Mitochondria is a word that few people outside the scientific community and health industry have ever heard.
The mitochondria are the work-horses of energy. The mitochondria convert all the food we eat into energy along with the oxygen we breath. This creates the fuel mix that that runs every system and process in our bodies.
Every mitochondria houses some 17,000 biochemical assembly lines each one created to produce the molecule adenosine triphosphate, commonly known as ATP, our bodies most basic and elemental fuel.
Organs that work the hardest such as the heart, muscles and brain house the greatest number of mitochondria because they demand more energy for proper functioning. Lean muscles house more mitochondria than fat, another clue to boosting your mitochondria army.
Your vitality and health are an indication of how many healthy mitochondria your body contains. Those who have an army of healthy mitochondria, have more energy and focus, and are able to sustain maximum levels of activity without getting fatigued.
You would not be alive right now if it were not for your powerhouse mitochondria keeping you vital, healthy and alive. Although most of us begin life with an army of healthy mitochondria, our lifestyles, stress, accumulation of toxins, exposure to infection and allergens can all cause faulty mitochondria.
However one of the worst is the diet we keep. The overly processed and chemical laden foods we consume, the empty calories of sugar and flour, all the dead foods cause the mitochondria to sift and burn through a lot of muck (causing inflammation and creating free radicals) before useful nutrients can be siphoned out.
The key is to eat healthy, Fresh wholesome fruits, veggies (make sure to eat some deep green daily). Grass fed meats, wild-caught fish, healthy fiber, quality protein and healthy fat like coconut oil. Please, check your diet and modify it accordingly. Do not forget to exercise daily.
Enjoy life!! Be healthy!!!
