First, we have to be aware of what kind of food we are eating. However, this process does not work properly in people with chronic inflammation. Studies have shown that that there is a connection between the hormone Leptin, weight gain and inflammation.
The hormone leptin regulates our body level of fat by controlling our appetite and metabolism. So the more fat tissue you have or add. the more leptin is produced by our body. In healthy people this process leads to leptin supressing the appetite, but increasing your metabolic rate, causing them to feel them less hunger and burn more calories, thus resulting in loss of excess fat, the way it suppose to work.

Prefer spices such as garlic, chili peppers, ginger and curry and use olive oil. Green tea is also a potent anti-inflammatory.
Other foods to eat only in moderation because of their high calories: are nuts, seeds, whole grains, tropical fruits, eggs, poultry, beans, cheeses and white potatoes.
Foods to avoid , are: veal, high fatty dairy, farmed-fish, margarine and shortening, organ meats of all kinds, vegetable oils, except olive oil, refined sugars and flour and fried and fatty foods.
